Several steel plants used the water-quenching process and the Qiangtao steel plant in Qingtao, China is still using the water-quenching method to process steel slag. Water-quenched steel slag consists of particles from 3 to 5 mm (Zhu et al. 1989). Air-quenching process was recently developed by Chongqing Iron and Steel Co. Ltd, Chongqing, China, and is being used in several steel plants in China (Ye and Liao 1999). Basically, the molten steel slag in slag cart is poured into a slot, underneath which there is an air nozzle.
